The beginnings… Alice’s journey to Polynesia, the discovery of the Calophyllum Inophyllum oil and its amazing healing properties…

On her return to Paris in 1951, Alice Darot, Doctor in Chemistry, while working in Paris hospitals, developed a treatment concept. After several months of application on different body areas, Alice noted that her formula improved cell repair within the epidermis.

Alice, a native of Avèze in the Puy-de-Dôme region of France, perfected a day cream for her own personal use. Her friend Jean encouraged her to launch her own line of products. Alice chose to christen the brand Jean d’Avèze, combining the names of the person and the place that were her sources of inspiration.

In 1953, Alice set up a research and development laboratory in Paris. Her formula became the now well-known Jouvence cream. Remarkably, it was prescribed by the medical community for its remarkable effectiveness in improving the appearance of skin after planned surgical interventions or after trauma such as burns and sunburn.

The Jean d’Avèze range grew to include additional products such as serums, masks and healing balms, all drawing their active properties from the traditional pharmacopoeia.
